Recovery is just as important as the workout itself. Unfortunately, most people don't realize RECOVERY is necessary for preventative maintenance, and not just to heal an injury. Here are a few tips to recover from your long runs:

Don't Doubt the Process
When a tragedy or difficult season walks into your life, embrace it. You can rest comfortably in the shadow of the Most High, because this will be a historical moment in your life story. Do not be mistaken by thinking that it will be easy, because it will require you to devote every ounce of your energy to get through it. Your mind might even trick you into thinking that you cannot make it, but you were built for this very moment. Every experience in your life so far has lead up to this very moment, and it is now time to make the decision to act.
During these life-changing events, the only way to persevere is to look to God and genuinely ask for supernatural guidance. Once you do this, you will begin to notice your eyes and ears open when strikingly odd coincidences and miracles appear. Old friends and guides will appear out of thin air to offer words of advice without ever asking for it. Thoughts will pop-up in your mind at the exact right time to propel you to the next phase of the process. Resources will magically appear whenever you need them the most, because when you need something bad enough, the entire universe conspires to offer its help. Once you experience the overwhelming significance of knowledge being downloaded into your life from infinite intelligence, you can never look back. Your future decisions, thoughts, actions, words, relationships, and everything else will begin to rely on this supernatural guidance that only appears once you allow it to work in your life.
The unfortunate reality of this secret is that it sometimes requires a tragedy for us to let go of all ego and self-knowledge to tap into this river of life. This secret river is what books have been written about (The Bible, Think and Grow Rich, The Secret, etc.), and what all of the famous greats (Ben Franklin, Thomas Edison, JFK, etc.) have come to know and rely on. When one experiences this "super-power" that comes from Our Father Above, all of Heaven rejoices because it marks another significant moment in the story of humanity. Do not doubt the process, because you are now equipped with the armor to accomplish anything that you put your entire mind and heart into. If you have ever experienced this guidance, I applaud you and am in support of your spirit. It is now your duty to share this supernatural wisdom with the rest of the world. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, I salute you, valiant warrior.
"I'm not sure if he said 'Tribe' or 'Family'"- Han Solo
" What's the difference?" - Beckett
From the new movie Solo: A Star Wars Story
For the majority of our time on Earth, humans have lived in tribes. It was a time when everyone knew their role in society, when everyone shared meals together, everyone knew their neighbor, and sharing resources was a necessity for the survival of the group. We use to tell story after story about our ancestors, big adventures, rival tribes, where we came from, and sometimes how we found our life mate. The time seemed so ancient and barbaric since there were limited resources like technology, healthcare, and transportation. It is easy to ignore the significance of the tribal lifestyle, but I choose to believe that we lived a more purposeful life during this time.
Our ancestors were not attached to material things, because they enjoyed giving to their neighbors. They were not glued to their phone during meals, for they laughed and enjoyed their hard earned meals. No one had student loan debt, because everyone knew their role in society and made significant contributions from what they were naturally gifted at. Nobody was depressed from a lack of family and identity, because everyone shared the same heart within a tribe and looked out for one another. Although we are far from this age of living in tribes, I believe that we can still tap into this tribal mindset to begin living a more natural lifestyle.
The first step is to find your tribe. It is important to surround yourself around others who share the same passion. If you are passionate about running, you can do a quick Google search for "local running clubs near me" and you would be surprised at how many opportunities pop-up! It is so important to find your tribe, because this is where you find your identity and role within society. College degrees only take you so far, but your tribe will naturally place you in areas that suit your strengths. When you fit into society by utilizing your strengths, you begin to move with more purpose and natural energy throughout the day. And hey, you never know who you might meet in your tribe; you might meet a few people who forever change the trajectory of your life.
NOTE: if you are in the Chicagoland area and are looking for your next running TRIBE, November Project-Chicago meets every Wednesday (6:28 am @ random locations) and Friday (6 am @ the Bean) for a great team work out!
